Payout Agreement

Revenue Split & Payout Terms

Version v1.0. Please read this before you connect a bank account. It explains, in plain language, exactly how your money moves.

You keep 70%

M.A.D. keeps 30% as its platform commission.

Paid at purchase

Your 70% is sent to your own bank automatically, sale by sale.

Bank details stay private

You enter them with our payment provider. M.A.D. never sees them.

These Revenue Split & Payout Terms (“Payout Terms”) form part of your agreement with The M.A.D. Music Community (“M.A.D.,” “we,” or “us”) and apply to every download sold from your artist or record label profile. They supplement, and do not replace, the M.A.D. Artist Agreement.

1. The Split — 70% You, 30% M.A.D.

Each song download is sold to the public for $0.99 USD, unless you set a different price for a track. For every completed sale:

  • 70% of the purchase price is your share and is paid to you, the owner of the profile that the track belongs to.
  • 30% of the purchase price is M.A.D.'s commission for hosting, delivery, promotion, customer support, and operating the platform.

On a $0.99 download, that is $0.70 to you and $0.29 to M.A.D. Where a cent cannot be divided evenly, the rounding is applied in your favour.

2. Your 70% Is Paid Directly To You

When a customer buys your download, the payment is split at the moment of purchase by our payment provider. Your 70% is transferred to the bank account you connect to your M.A.D. account, and M.A.D.'s 30% is transferred to M.A.D. M.A.D. does not receive, hold, pool, or control your share, and does not need to send you a separate payment for it later.

Because your share never sits in a M.A.D. account, there is nothing for M.A.D. to withhold, delay, or dispute. Every transfer is recorded and visible to you in your Studio under Sales and Earnings.

3. Fees, Taxes, Refunds and Chargebacks

  • Standard card processing fees charged by the payment provider are deducted from the transaction before the split, as are any sales tax or VAT amounts collected on the sale.
  • The payment provider may charge account and payout fees on your connected account. These are your costs and are shown to you inside your payment provider dashboard.
  • All sales are final — downloads are not refundable. See the refund policy.
  • If a customer's bank reverses a payment (a chargeback), the amount already paid to you for that sale, plus any related fee, may be recovered from your connected account or offset against your future earnings.
  • You are solely responsible for reporting and paying all taxes owed on your earnings. M.A.D. does not withhold taxes on your behalf.

4. Timing of Your Money

Your share is transferred to your connected account as each sale completes. The payment provider then pays it out to your bank on its standard schedule for your country — for most accounts, on a rolling daily or weekly basis after an initial verification period. You can view and change your payout schedule inside the provider's dashboard from your M.A.D. payout page.

5. Connecting and Verifying Your Bank

  • You enter your banking and identity details directly with M.A.D.'s regulated payment provider on its own secure, encrypted screens. Full account, routing and card numbers are never transmitted to, displayed by, or stored on M.A.D.'s systems. M.A.D. sees only whether your account is verified and the last four digits of the account.
  • You must give accurate, current, and complete banking, identity, and tax information, and keep it up to date. Verification is required by law before payouts can be enabled.
  • Until a profile's account is verified and payouts are switched on, that profile's tracks cannot be sold. This protects you from money being collected with no compliant way to reach you.
  • You must be the rightful owner of, or duly authorised signatory on, the account you connect. Connecting an account you are not entitled to use is a material breach of this agreement.

6. Labels and Multiple Profiles

Each artist or record label profile connects its own bank account. Sales are attributed to the profile the track was uploaded under, and that profile's 70% goes to that profile's connected account. If you operate a label, it is your responsibility — not M.A.D.'s — to divide the label's share among your artists under whatever agreement you have with them.

7. Suspension and Recovery

M.A.D. may pause payouts or sales for a profile where there is a credible claim of copyright infringement, suspected fraud, a legal or regulatory requirement, a failed verification, or a serious breach of the Artist Agreement. Where amounts were paid to you in error, or where a sale is reversed, you agree that M.A.D. and its payment provider may recover those amounts from your connected account or from future earnings.

8. Records and Disputes

The transaction records kept by M.A.D. and its payment provider are the authoritative record of what was sold and what was paid. If you believe a payment is wrong, contact musicsupport@madinthefield.com within 60 days of the sale and we will investigate in good faith.

9. Changes to These Payout Terms

We may update these Payout Terms. If we make a material change — including any change to the 70/30 split — we will notify you by email or in the platform before it takes effect and ask you to accept the updated version. Sales already completed are always settled on the terms in force at the time of the sale.

10. Governing Law

These Payout Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles, and are otherwise subject to the Artist Agreement.
