How M.A.D. Radio protects your music

M.A.D. Radio gets your full songs heard by new fans. The radio is there to help people find you. The $0.99 download is how you get paid. Keeping the two separate means playing on the radio never gives away the clean copy fans pay for.

The radio stream

Full length so fans hear the whole song. It carries voice tags, uses links that expire and only plays on the M.A.D. site. It's built for listening, not keeping.

The $0.99 download

Your clean, untagged song with no voice-overs, theirs to keep. Only buyers get it, and you keep 70% of every sale.

What we do to stop leaks

Voice tags over the stream

A short line — "You're listening to M.A.D. Radio. Buy this song at music.madinthefield.com" — plays over a few spots in every radio song. Anyone who records the radio walks away with a tagged copy, not your clean master.

Links that expire

Every radio song gets its own private link that stops working after a short time. Copying it and sharing it later doesn't work.

Plays only in the M.A.D. player

Radio songs can't be opened in a new browser tab or saved with "Download". They play inside the site's player and nowhere else.

Previews stay short

Outside the radio, listeners hear a 90-second preview with a smooth fade-out. The full song is only heard on the tagged radio stream or after purchase.

Being honest about recording

No music service can fully stop someone recording what plays through their speakers. Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube can't either. What we can do is make sure any recording carries the M.A.D. voice tag. That way a recording is never as good as the real download, and the clean song stays worth buying.
