“Time To Heal” traces the aftermath of a battle that left more broken than restored. Through solitude, memory, and the stillness of home, it moves from grief toward renewal—the slow rebuilding of heart, mind, and hope. Personal Note: Beginning in October 2021, my life became a cascade of loss and medical crises. A blocked LAD artery required a stent. The day after Thanksgiving, my younger sister Johanna died in the hospital, only days after we had spoken. On December 5, our family found Lisa dead in the bathroom. I pulled her body out. Much of that period remains a blur. The week of Christmas, I became critically ill. After returning from the bathroom, I heard a voice tell me to leave my body on the ground and put my elbows on the bed. I died, then suddenly came back. I awoke covered in blood, having lost at least two pints. With almost no strength, I typed “help” into our family text group. I was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery. I flatlined while surgeons were removing a catheter from my stomach, aspirated blood, and spent a day on a ventilator. I returned home Christmas morning. Weeks later, we learned our youngest daughter had cancer involving her esophagus. Surgeons removed her esophagus and began treatment. She lived without one for a year and a half. In April 2021, I suffered a cascading neural failure. In simple terms, my mind broke. For months, I couldn't remember my own name. After 31 years in IS/IT, I had to retire. In 2024, I found Suno and began composing lyrics and melodies. Music became part of healing my mind. I recognized parts of myself still carrying old orders to protect me long after the danger had passed. I could finally tell those loyal agents: “Thank you for protecting me. Your loyalty and service are appreciated. You can stand down now. I am whole again.” “Time To Heal” is the story of that journey.
Lyrics
[Verse 1] After the battle's finally won, Yet I’m standing here all alone, Hearts shattered, love undone, I hear whispers of things unknown. Lost friends and cherished pets, Minds tangled, caught in despair's net, A pyrrhic victory, paid with tears, Left with nothing but heartache and fears. [Chorus] It's time to heal — (TIME TO HEAL!) Time… to find me, Reclaim the love And the man I used to be… At the cost of my heart, at the cost of my mind, I’m sear-ching for the rhythm I thought I’d left behind… I returned home — my sanctuary, my light, Time to mend what’s torn and make it right… [Verse 2] Look at this house, echoes of laughter, Now it's a shelter from the storm's rafter. In the garden where smiles grew wild, Now the ground feels heavy, defiled. Every memory is a woven tale, Of strength and love, through loss and fails, But I’ll gather these pieces of peace, And with time, envision sweet release. [Chorus] It's time to heal… Time to be free, From shadows gripping, suffocating me, At the cost of my soul, at the cost of my dreams, I’ll rise from these ashes, stitching up the seams… I returned home — my sanctuary’s plea, This solitude’s a blessing given back to me… [Bridge] In the stillness, I find the strength, To let go and forgive at length. With love as my guiding star, I’ll rebuild, no scar too far. With every dawn that paints the sky, There's a promise I’ll learn to fly. [Final Chorus] It's time to heal — Time to believe, In the beauty of life I’m ready to receive… At the cost of my tears, at the cost of my fears, I’m writing a new song that only my heart hears… I returned home — where hope sets me free, I’ll find my place in this tapestry… [Outro] Glowing embers of love, ignite, (Time to heal…) Step into the light. A journey long, but love will reveal, Sometimes all we need… Is time… To heal…
